Can confirm, I am having this same issue as well, I bought the game recently too.
This has been happening to me as well, I tried contacting support and they did nothing and told me to open a bug report.
I have tried reinstalling the game multiple times, logging off and logging in, and even tried to play in a friend's house with a completely different computer and network (in which their account works) and nothing worked and the error continues to happen.
Nope, not able to change my skin as well
