This happened to me while I was making underground catacombs for a pyramid I'd been working on. I was using a night vision potion until I put up torches in the tombs. When the light went out I had a mini heart attack. One of the scariest moments of my life. Unfortunately I can't confirm the glitch with anything but an Intel graphics card. My card is an Intel(R) HD Family.
Same thing happening with me, it's thunderstorming for me though, so it's getting fairly tiresome
