Wood makes squeaking sound when interacted with

Any type of wood, while cutting or walking upon, makes a squeaking sound which can be compared to how a Villager sounds but more high pitched.

Hi Bryan,

Are you able to upload a video of your issue? I'm not able to reproduce the issue you describe (or I've misunderstood your issue).

Please also check that you have no addon packs enabled when creating the video as these can interfere with sound and visuals.

I discovered that Java edition has this too, but the sounds are less loud and annoying so it's unnoticeable

I think I know what you mean. I’ve noticed a recurring “hrrr” when I chop several logs continuously, in the background of the thumpy wood mining sound. I would describe it as a nasally groan rather than as a squeak. I’ll see if I can record sometime in the next couple of days.

It's just because the sounds are unbalanced on Bedrock vs Java. I have a ticket for that specifically too, MCPE-51049.

Yeah it sounds like a low villager hurrr. Thanks to this report I can no longer un-hear it, which is frustrating if its the same in Java (and therefore working identically across both platforms).

Based on your findings Bryan are you comfortable with this one being closed as a duplicate of your sound levels one or do you still think the sound when chopping is specifically bugged?

Seems to be fixed in the latest beta, can anyone else confirm?

I donvt see how this is a bug, this is in the sound file itsels and is supposed to resemble squeaky wood. This is even identical on java edition.

After listening to all of the Java sounds listed on https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Wood#Sounds, I can hear the high-pitched squeak in some of them. I do not hear the lower-pitched sound from

. After listening to all the samples separately, I can hear a more natural creaky wood sound in some of them. So, I suspect the unnatural-sounding squeaks and groan are a result applying artificial pitch modulation to a primary sample. The different resulting samples are probably chosen randomly by the game to give variety. If I'm correct then I get what they are trying to do with the sounds, but the result is not realistic.

Thank you for your report!
