Still have the issue. Just reinstalled the launcher from minecraft.net.

The first time I tried, I just double clicked, then it loaded for over 10 mins before I gave up, then I used terminal, it still loaded forever. Finally I used sudo, and it asked to send commands, then it stared loading after I gave the ok.

Every time I look to see if there are dupes, it is a dupe.

Confirm, however, if you give yourself an arrow with a custom potion effect, it looks fine.
