I am having this issue as well. I am not sure if it started on my realm or not but it is not limited to it. I also cannot see player chat on servers. A few more things are happening, the whole bug linked below.
It might have been caused by some data-packs I have on my realm. I have Vanilla Tweaks items as well as a vein miner data-pack listed below.

If anyone has these datapacks and think they are part of the problem let me know.
I noticed the freezeframes and crashing happen on multiplayer servers too, just checked.
