It must have been my computer, as I tried to recreate the problem, the problem didn't happen again. Sorry about this.
could you go into the .minecraft folder, find options.txt (or options) file, upload it to mediafire, and put the link in the description. It may be able to help the mods and mojang out

Most game sites are blocked at schools, including the excellent game site of the amazing MINECRAFT. Due to this, the launcher can't find the server, unless your teacher or school unblocked it for other reasons.
