It may work “as intended” however I do not believe this to be good behavior. I personally find this frustrating. The current golem behavior is akin to “ohh look shiny! Lemme grab that”, this level of intelligence is fitting for the mob. BUT unless Mojang intends the golem to be annoying to work with, I highly suggest that it excludes unreachable targets.
