Though if you ask me personally, I think it is better this way.
It is not just the hand going up but also the cursor position when falling. Look down and the cursor will be exactly where you will fall to. Before that was only the case if you turned off viewbobbing.
For what is that usefull that it matches trapdoors?
I havent this drops since the new versions, but i saw that by youtubers already but please try that:
-Go to the minecraft graphics settings and try to turn clouds off and VBOs on/off.
