I'm having the exact same issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Java and Minecraft numerous times, and I removed all unnecessary files from my Minecraft program files beforehand (resource packs, mods, etc.) and am still facing the same issue.

In order for me to use the new snapshot in a superflat world, i have to create the superflatworld in 1.8.8 then change to the snapshot.
