Confirmed to be a Microsoft authentication problem and has been fixed in 1.18 update. Waiting for it to be marked as fixed and fixed version to be 1.18
I think this is one big bug with Minecraft signing into a Microsoft account on Nintendo Switch.
This is happening to me, I am on the latest version, I was able to send invites but now I cant. MoJang please fix this, all mobile users will be happy when this is fixed. This affects both android and IOS users
