Let it stay. There's nothing wrong with it. Also many people want it to stay.
If you don't have a mac and can't reproduce it, don't say it's not a bug. I know it's a duplicate but just wanted to inform that There is more than 1 person affected by this.

The sponge “layer” is two blocks high
I did /fill ~ ~ ~ ~10 ~1 ~10 minecraft:sponge
Which makes it 2 blocks high
can confirm this bug exists, I experienced this bug in 1.20.2 on a LAN server
steps to reproduce:
1. Join LAN server
2. Get a repeating command block
3. tp [username] ~ ~3 ~
4. always active
you fall out of sync, on the server you're kept 3 blocks above the cmd block but on your screen you can move
