No; that may be an error with the input dialogue not understanding the end of a URL. According to my screen, I had formatted it correctly and the link worked, but I've edited to hopefully sidestep the issue.

Edit to comment: the input dialogue seems to be unfriendly to mobile virtual keyboards as well.

I believe it worked in 1.7.10, as I had a creative world where a lever was on upside-down stairs.
