Sneaking does not prevent the player from waterlogging blocks

Sneak to put water does not prevent the block you are pointing at (leaves, slabs, stairs) from filling with water.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place a waterloggable block

  2. Obtain a water bucket

  3. Sneak and use the water bucket on the waterloggable block

Observed Results:
The block is waterlogged.

Expected Results:
The expected behavior is that when crouching, the water is placed on or to the side instead of inside the block.

Did this change in a recent beta, or can it be reproduced in the latest stable version also? (1.16.201)

It was always like this. Relates to MC-173730. Changing this would make it annoying when trying waterlogg interactive blocks like for example a chest. You would then need to aim at adjacent blocks to waterlogg it.

But this way you cannot put water in the treetops or on a floor made of upper slabs.

The observed result is currently in parity with Java. If this is not WAI, it still affects 1.19.22
