When testing the bug, I confirmed it is still present in the latest versions: 26.1 snapshot, The issue occurs when placing a sticky piston facing any direction except up or down, with a redstone block behind it. After that, I place a chest next to the extended side of the sticky piston (any side except the pulling side), then add two slime blocks: one next to the chest and one on the sticky face of the piston. When I place any gravity‑affected block on top of the extended piston head and then remove the redstone block, the gravity‑affected block stops behaving as a gravity block. It remains floating instead of falling.
