Cocoa pods do not spawn particles when their supporting block is destroyed

If a jungle log supporting cocoa pods is mined, it but not the pods will emit block destroy particles. I expected that like other blocks requiring a form of support, they would produce particles as if having been mined themselves.
Tested in creative mode, with all cocoa pod growth stages.
