when a mob is spawned directly on a fire block, the fire texture does not show, however the mob has a reddish tint. when mobs are not directly spawned on the fire, the fire texture is shown.

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy S4 android 4.4.2 in creative mode. In the picture, there is a creeper engulfed in flames in the centre fire block. It walked into the fire and was engulfed in flames. A creeper was spawned directly in the rightmost fire block and it has a redish tint like it is on fire, but has no flames. I expected this creeper would be engulfed in flames when it was spawned, but it was not.
