The bug
The outer faces of lanterns (both on the ground and hanging) are also rendered on the inside, despite the fact that it's normally not possible to be inside of lanterns, and so these faces go largely unseen.
How to reproduce
Place a lantern
Enter Spectator mode
Fly into the lantern
Expected results
When inside the lantern, you should be able to see outside of it as if the lantern wasn't there.
Actual results
You can't, as the outer faces of the lantern are in the way.

They shouldn't be visible from inside because rendering inner faces is pointless since (aside from extremely specific circumstances such as Spectator mode or teleportation) you will never see them, and as such rendering said faces costs extra memory for something that will ultimately never be seen.
In addition (although this is a weaker point), Java Edition doesn't render or define the inner faces of lanterns.
Can confirm, affects 1.20.60 and 1.20.70.22. Reproducible on PC.
This also applies to soul lanterns.

Why would you expect the lantern to be invisible from the inside? That doesn't make any sense to me.
