I gave my villagers 18 bread and they made 6 baby villagers, this isn't a bad thing but I only wanted three

I had only two villagers and only given them eighteen bread. It is possible they had potatoes from before but I believe they used them all.
Villagers can breed when only one of them has food. We are tracking this issue at MCPE-168809.
How many villagers did you breed initially? Did you give the bread only to 2 villagers? How many beds did you place?
Please add more information to the issue.
