[MCPE-154473] Hero of the Village effect only lasts for 40 minutes instead of an infinite amount of time like in Java

When defeating a raid you will get the village hero effect and on bedrock currently you only get it for 40 minuts but on Java you get it for an infinite time.

The wiki says it is 40 minutes in both editions. Was this changed in Java recently?

Hero of the Village in Minecraft: Java Edition is and was never an infinite amount of time; instead, it simply says "xx:xx" instead of displaying the long amount of time. However, if you do wait the time, it eventually will run out.
