Thousands of nintendo switch users have been struggling with this problem for months now. The fact that this issue has persisted for so long on such a large scale is infuriating.
When attempting to sing in, we do exactly what it tells us to do. use code to sign into microsoft account. Microsoft tells the user it is now working, and then the nintendo switch either responds with "something went wrong" or doesn't log them without any explanation.
upon reaching out, i have found that literal THOUSANDS of other people have the same problem. this is just absolutely disappointing and should have been fixed by now, Mojang.
