When retracted by sticky piston, activated detector rails do not update their orientation

Make the setup shown in the picture. Flip the lever a few times, observing the behavior of the detector rail. Now place a minecart on top of the detector rail and notice how the retracted rail isn't reorienting as it was before.

Confirmed. Detector rails don't update their orientation when pushed by a piston if they have a minecart on top of them.

Can confirm in 1.8.2-pre6.

I don't see what you are talking about. The behavior of the rail is the same before and after you move the minecart. Also, what's going on with your tp command? It shouldn't have moved the minecart at all.

I was talking about Yoo Tae Jong's comment, before he edited it.

In 1.7.10 and a good while before, the rail reorients itself properly. The regression was specifically introduced in snapshot 14w 25. I'd really appreciate a fix, as I had built a rather large project which relied on this behavior.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (i.e. 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft?

Confirmed for 1.13.1.

Confirmed in 1.15.2, but fixed in 1.16 Pre-release 3 or earlier.
