Enchantment options for individual players are reset after death. KeepInventory does not have any affect.

If a player is to enchant an item in an enchantment table, and die afterwards, the options for enchanting are reset.

Say you were to enchant a tool. The enchantment options for other items and that tool have a decent chance of changing. If, for say, a sword were put into the slot and the 3 options were X, Y, and Z. Then the player dies. When they come back and look at the options for the sword, they will have reverted to those available before anything was enchanted by the player. You would expect to be able to die and have the enchantment options remain the same as before you died, but this is not the case.

This could, besides ruining a person's day, or be used as an exploit to receive an infinite amount of the same enchant, say eff4 silk1 unbr3 on every tool.

From what I can gather over your report, you are saying enchanted tools or weapons lose enchantments when a player dies.
If so, I cannot reproduce.
I enchanted 6 items of different types and materials, killed myself on a clock. Never had an item revert back to unenchanted.

Try posting steps to reproduce and I will try again.

he means the options you can choose for enchanting, normaly there would be a "seed" for enchantments, last enchantment can always be put on the next tool/weapon/armor of the same kind

No, I was not saying that the enchantments on items would be removed, but rather the options IN the enchantment table for an UNENCHANTED item would be reset to the first options for that item (the options the player received when looking in the enchantements table for the first time.

To Repeat the glitch:
-Look at the level 30 option for a sword it is X.
-Enchant a pickaxe.
-Look at the level 30 enchantment option for the sword agin, it is now Y.
-Kill yourself.
-The level 30 option for the sword is now X again.

You could have enchanted any number of items, rather than just the pickaxe but the sword 30L option would still be X, the one you see when you first look at the sword options.

The items enchanted do not matter, I just chose a sword and pick to clear up ambiguity.

This has been repeated multiple times and had the same result, so it is not just coincidence.

I hope this helped.

MC-49672 may have the same underlying cause. If you check the contents of the player .dat file using a tool that can read NBT data, has the seed been set to 0, or to a new, random value? You can upload before and after copies of your player file from a world for us to check, if you're not familiar with the tools.

Confirmed, affects 1.8.

To reproduce: Place an item inside an enchantment table, see what enchant you would get, but don't enchant it. Kill yourself, get back to the enchantment table and place the same item inside. It will give you a different enchant.
