[MC-31561] Mobs on leads dissapearing

I tied a pig, and an angry wolf to a lead and suspended them on a fence tower approx. 8 blocks tall. When I came back there was nothing there. The mobs had despawned.

were they dangling from the posts? Its possible they took fall damage if they somehow stretched the lead past its breaking point.

They were only 3 blocks above the ground. I don't think that would have killed them.

If they are above ground at all they will take fall damage if they are held there... Fall damage isn't a height calculation... It's a time calculation... The longer your not on solid ground the more damage you take so if the mobs lagged down and touched the ground after say 10 seconds of being suspended in the air, then they will take a large amount of fall damage

Oh. Mabye then. That explains why when you slowly lower an animal on a lead, it dies when it hits the ground. Thx!
