no visual affects apon entering portal

this is a sometimes bug, I was entering the nether portal from the overworld
and I came out on the other side and the screen was moving but there was no purple swirl

In creative mode, nether teleport is instant (no portal effect) on entering... After you get to the other side though, you should see it. (working on my minecraft client)

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.2 / Launcher version 1.3.4 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
