F3 debug screen regression in 1.21.9+: layout change and reduced chunk-relative usability

In Minecraft Java 1.21.9+, the F3 debug screen was redesigned and its behavior changed.
This introduced a regression for technical gameplay and advanced navigation workflows that previously relied on the debug screen.

Key issues observed:

  • Player coordinates (XYZ) were moved from the left side of the screen to the right, reducing readability and breaking long-established workflows.

  • Chunk-relative coordinates (in x z) no longer update per block and appear restricted or coarsened, even in private servers.

  • The entity debug feature always shows entities on your screen as 0 (e.g., E: 0/number of entities rendered).

  • The pie charts are also affected, making pre-1.21.9 tutorials confusing (e.g., the game-render feature is less usable).

  • There is no gamerule, toggle, or accessibility option to restore the classic F3 layout or behavior.

  • These changes negatively affect technical players, speedrunners, and redstone users, breaking compatibility with years of existing tutorials and workflows.

Other features that would be beneficial to bring back:

  • Easy switching of render distance using F3 + F

  • The old F3 layout with coordinates on the left, like in pre-1.21.9 versions

Environment

Minecraft Java Edition OS: Windows / macOS / Linux (any) Singleplayer and private servers
