internal exception java.net.socketexception connection reset

After joining a realm, the game is very laggy and chunks do not load properly. After about a minute or so, the realm crashes and I receive this error message: “internal exception java.net.socketexception connection reset”. It is not realm-side, since other people can play on the realm without issue. This error does not happen on other servers, but I have not tested other Realms.

Here is a list of the fixes I’ve attempted. None of them have fixed the issue:

  • Setting render and simulation distances to the lowest they can be

  • Restaring the PC

  • Restarting the Wi-Fi

  • Using a different internet connection

  • Using a hotspot

  • Using a VPN

  • Using the Minecraft/a different launcher. I primarily use Prism Launcher, but the error persisted even on the original Minecraft Launcher

  • Allowing javaw.exe through the firewall

  • Disabling the firewall altogether

  • Making a new installation

  • Renewing system IP address

  • Changing the DNS server

  • Using a different account

None of the above works.

How do I fix this?

This could just be because you wi-fi isn’t very strong, it could also be because of where the realm is hosted.

I tried it from different Wi-Fi networks and even a hotspot, the error persisted throughout. The realm is hosted far away from me, but people from countries near mine have had no issues while playing.
