Drowned not dropping Tridents

I tried to get a Trident from a drowned in my survival world for multiple hours ( i think more than 10 as of now). I killed more than 50 drowned holding Tridents in their hands. After that nearly made me go insane i decided to start a creative world where i made a giant water curtain where loads of them would spawn. But still not a single one holding it in their hand would drop one (killed another 50 or so). At this point im pretty convinced it is a bug and not just bad luck.
