When placing a display block on the ground and placing any block or object next to it, it starts glitching and eventually turns dark.
How to reproduce
Start by enabling cheats to run commands.
Then enter this command in chat:
/summon block_display ~ ~ ~ {teleport_duration:5,block_state:{Name:"minecraft:stone"}}/summon block_display ~ ~ ~ {teleport_duration:5,block_state:{Name:"minecraft:stone"}}You will find a fake/display block place on the ground, then place blocks around the display block.
The block will start glitching and will turn dark.
Observations: Display block glitches and turns dark when blocks are placed around it.
Expectations: Nothing should happen and the block shouldn't glitch and change color.
Discovered while testing MC-270742.

You're placing a block on top of the anchor point of the display entity, which means it is now inside a block and now renders dark. This isn't a problem - either align the entity to the grid or use the data fields for overriding the lighting values.
