When you throw any netherite item in lava, it does not burn and disappear.
Steps to Reproduce:
Place down some lava using a lava bucket.
Throw a netherite ingot in the lava
Observed Results:
The netherite ingot stays and does not disappear.
Expected Results:
The netherite ingot gets burned and disappears.

However, this issue is Working as Intended.
Netherite items are fire resistant, and do not burn as stated in the 20w06a article.
Netherite effects
Netherite items float in lava so you don’t lose all your gear after that unplanned lava bath
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
