Sculk won't generate in lava using a sculk catalyst or /placefeature
What I expected to happen was...:
Sculk generating in lava
What actually happened was...:
Nothing generated at all
Steps to Reproduce (Method 1):
**
Find some lava or create your own patch of lava. (I would recommend doing this in a superflat world. Anyways, I would also recommend digging 1 block (don't dig further down) and digging up some blocks anywhere you want around the first hole you made to make the lake.)
Place a Sculk Catalyst in the lava.
Place a command block (impulse or repeating) 2 blocks higher than the catalyst, then place it 1 block away. (I'll show you how to do that in one of my screenshots)
Type in any mob you want to summon (Example: summon piglin ~ ~-2 ~) type the -2 after the second ~ for the y axis, you can copy and paste this command also.
You can place any Redstone input on the command block, or set it to "Always Active"
When the mob dies, go into spectator mode and go into the lava.
Steps to Reproduce (Method 2):
Use the lava lake you made in Method 1
Jump in the lake
Copy and paste this into chat: "/placefeature minecraft:sculk_patch
Observe
Sculk requires air above replaceable blocks in order for it to spread, and this is an intentional game mechanic as stated inĀ MC-249233.
