[MC-221383] No iron in snapshot 21w11a

There is no iron in the world. I went into spectator mode to confirm: there is NO iron. I went all the way to the depths and scanned 50 blocks in pretty much every direction. I've tried several worlds with different seeds, but I have yet to see a single iron.

The seed of the latest attempt is -4227877980240671589

OK, I looked again, and I found two seams, one of which you found.

That's not good enough. Something changed in the algorithm and removed almost all the iron. I just exhaustively searched chunk 0/-3 (roughly centered on X8 and Z-41) and found only five seams of 8, 5, 9, 6, and 1 iron.

This is not resolved.

See MC-220104 on ore generation.

I found 109.214 iron ores/chunk of 15 chunks in 21w05b (256 world height), and 41.323 iron ores/chunk of 31 chunks in 21w11a (384 world height). This does not seem too far off from the image on the website's 21w10a changelog.

Ore generation is also not final (see the image) so it is possible that they will tweak the frequency.

I overstated the problem. There is iron after all, just not enough of it and it's too deep down. This change needs to be reverted at least back to where it was before 21W10A.
