Once when you defeated the dragon, the exit portal will open. However, if you set your spawnpoint just above the exit portal and enter it, you will find yourself in an infinite loading generation loop. This will force you to close the game with task manager.

Actually, I meant that when you do /spawnpoint one block above the exit portal where the dragon perches, you get sent back to the end which in the case that you are above the exit portal.
Here is a video of what I meant and it doesn't duplicate MC-183899.
Can confirm.
This works with /spawnpoint as it is dimension independent. /setworldspawn only supports overworld and is unaffected.
If you are in creative, its hard, but you can fly out. Maybe possible with ender pearls in survival, if you have them.
Possible cheaty solution would be to prevent the loading terrain screen from disabling chat/inventory since the terrain is not, in fact, changing. This would let you use commands to move yourself away. Or consider portals with 2 blocks under the spawnpoint an obstruction, and reset to world spawn. Might relate to MC-175176
