In my multiplayer world a zombie died and dropped melon seeds I got them picked them up and planted them. You have to have a surrounding block around it and I use bone meal too grow faster and sometimes it grows sometimes it doesn't. My melon farm is arranged like this...
The seed is surrounded by farm land so it can generate the melon somewhere there. Water is surrounding it. and I use bone meal and it gets up to the stem never grows a melon. Sometimes it does very rarely. Bug= Shouldn't the seed always generate a melon because it is surrounded by farm land to grow it on? All it does is gets up to the tallest stem and never generates. Sometimes it does but shouldn't it always generate a melon?

Then the melon decided to grow in that tick. As I said, it's a random amount of time, which can also be instant. Bone meal does not influence the growth of the melon itself.
The growth of the melon itself cannot be accelerated with bone meal. It always takes some random amount of time.
