So my brother had purchased Minecraft : Java edition on the 21st Dec 2020. After doing the needed steps to have the account, he logged into the launcher to be told he hasn't payed for it and that he has the "demo" version.
I then payed for another account for him, thinking he did something wrong, to have the exact same thing happen to me! So now, I've had to buy another account for him (so there's two) and neither of them work! We can't find a fix for the issue either!
