[MC-19527] End Portal takes me to platform far from island

Stepping through the portal, I am on a platform below and far off from the main island.

Creating a long (obsidian) staircase to the island while the dragon is attacking me is really unfair, and killing him while I'm standing on the island and he is healed by towers would be nearly impossible.

I didn't see the original issue, but I very much doubt this is working as intended.

The game is now impossible to beat without cheating.
