After being AFK at my piglin farm (on my friend's server); I went to the bottom to collect Exp. My Elytra had around 410/432 durability, so I figured that the Exp accumulated after a few hours would give me some levels and repair the Elytra. After I collected the Exp. I found that my Elytra had -51857/432 durability and I did not get any Exp.
This was on an online server.

Also to note. this was hundreds of levels gathered at once into a mending elytra. maybe it had to do with the amount of levels going into the elytra at once. much like an electrical overload

However, this issue is Invalid.
Your game, launcher and/or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please create a new ticket.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang Studios or the Bugtracker.
Any plugin or resource pack issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers, such as The Hive and Hypixel, please contact them first as they run extensively modified server software.
