The redstone item uses the block.minecraft.redstone_wire ("Redstone Wire") translation instead of item.minecraft.redstone ("Redstone"). The same issue happens to sugar canes, which use the block.minecraft.sugar_cane ("Sugar Cane") string instead of item.minecraft.sugar_cane ("Sugar Canes").

Sort of fixed in 17w48a. The redstone wire block translation has been changed to "Redstone Dust" and the sugar canes item translation has been removed.
