Throwing item stacks causes only one item to appear

If you throw down a stack of items by repeatedly pressing Q (or whatever your dropping key is), all of the items will appear to become one item, instead of looking like multiple items. In the photo, the left pumpkins are a stack thrown down in the way I mentioned before. On the right is a stack thrown with Control+Q. Both contain 64 items.
