I tried using the knowledge book for multiple items (like bread, cake or other), and all food type worked, except when you add rabbit stew. This will act like it consumes the book, but the book stay in your inventory (you have to update the slot).

Can't reproduce. Make sure you're using the correct recipe names:
/give @p knowledge_book 1 0 {Recipes:["rabbit_stew_from_brown_mushroom","rabbit_stew_from_red_mushroom"]}/give @p knowledge_book 1 0 {Recipes:["rabbit_stew_from_brown_mushroom","rabbit_stew_from_red_mushroom"]}However, your report does mention a valid issue: using a knowledge book containing invalid recipes only removes it client-side.
